About the role
As a DevOps / Linux developer you are responsible for setting up and maintaining cloud environments. In addition, you work together with developers to improve the various services and make technical functionalities available to customers.
In this position you are sometimes part of a project team, but there is a good chance that you are also in direct contact with customers to find solutions for technical challenges and to support complex questions. You will work with various web platforms, websites, baremetal, VPS and more and more cloud environments.
Within Smartshore we want to further professionalize our DevOps environment. We expect you to set up advanced logging, monitoring and alerting systems in consultation with our project teams and existing customers. There is plenty of room to implement the latest techniques. In addition, we expect you to support existing projects with performance optimizations of both web servers and databases. In short, it is a very diverse role with great challenges!

What exactly are you going to do?
In this position you perform the following tasks, among others:
- Shaping our DevOps organization and processes;
- Setting up virtual machines with proper Linux distribution and network configuration;
- Setting up CI/CD;
- Provisioning / configuring required software on servers, such as web servers and databases;
- Evaluate, improve, and maintain information security across the Linux infrastructure;
- Setting up logging, monitoring and alerting of critical servers and processes for failures and performance bottlenecks;
- Provide access to Linux resources as needed.
Competences and experiences
Your profile has the following characteristics:
- HBO work/thinking level;
- Knowledge of Linux;
- Knowledge of Network Management (firewalls, switches, routers, etc);
- Experience with Continuous Delivery;
- You like working from structure and like to think in terms of processes;
- You learn and you like to develop, developments in our field are rapid;
- You are flexible: it happens with some regularity that you work on standby and watch services and in the event of incidents also outside regular office hours;
- You are a real go-getter, team player, enthusiastic and someone who proactively contributes to finding solutions;
- In possession of a good dose of humor and a positive attitude;
- Education or no education, it doesn't matter to us.
PRE'S FOR THIS ROLE ARE:
- Affinity with software development;
- Knowledge of configuration management tooling such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef;
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL and, Mysql;
- Knowledge of Git, SCRUM and Jira.
